I think you're retaining a lot of guilt over your friends' impressions of you but this is your life. You have to do what's best for you and if this where you need to be right now, than that's just that. I was disheartened when you said your friends are mad at you for being so busy. I certainly hope you don't think I'm mad. This year is the foundation of your career and if people can't understand that, then they're stupid (and most likely don't have a career of their own and are just jealous--so spit on them!).
