being the oldest is getting old

    By marissa | June 18, 2006

I don’t know what it is, but I hate being the oldest.  My sister and I are 8 years apart and it bugs the hell out of me.  I mean I love my sister, but I also remember everything that happened to me and when it happened to me.  Then I get really upset when she gets to do things that I didn’t.  I know, it is completely childish, but as of this moment I have yet to get over it.

Today my sister was looking for a French Horn.  We both play.  She got to start when she was in fifth grade, I had to wait until high school.  Now my parents want to buy her a horn.  Whatever.  See, I have yet to get over it.

Top Reasons why being the oldest sucks:

Now I am sure I could come up with more, but I’m tired.

This weekend has been such a mood swinging weekend it’s not even funny.  I think it has to do with my lack of sleep.  Anyway, tomorrow I hope to resume the job hunt and possibly get some laundry done.

You forgot another reason. You are the one who has to break all the stupid rules. For example, I was the one who had to convince my parents it was okay to wear make-up and nail polish that wasn’t clear. Silly example maybe, but my sister never had to convince them that the rules they set forth were silly, I did. That bugs me too.

Yea being the oldest really sucks. Mostly because parents just eventually give up discipline wise. I would’ve never been roaming the streets all night like my sisters do now. I’m not bitter…

No job here either. Going to the CPS job fair this week?

The job fair was a glorious waste of time as usual. There were about 3 schools on the Northside with openings. They ask you your name and that is basically it. What a waste.

But I feel the same way. I think I will go to a temp agency next week. I am still looking into government jobs. I dont think a teaching job is ever going to happen. I need health insurance so its time to just give up teaching I think.
